SECTION 1 — Contextual Fragments
On Distance
The work depends on distance.
At close range, the paintings resist recognition and assert their construction.
From afar, they resolve into images that appear familiar and legible.
Neither position is privileged.
The work exists in the movement between the two.
On Constraint
The grid imposes limits before any image appears.
These limits are not expressive choices, but conditions the work must negotiate.
What matters is not freedom within the system, but how much can be articulated while remaining inside it.
On Control
The work is cautious of structures that claim neutrality or authority.
At the same time, it cannot exist without order.
The paintings hold these two positions simultaneously, without resolving the tension between them.
